Vytas passed away after a brief illness at 94 years of age, at Labdara, the Lithuanian Nursing Home in Toronto. Born in Lithuania, he lived most of his life in Canada, primarily in Toronto and Wasaga Beach, Ontario. Vytas was very active in the Lithuanian community. He had served as President of the Lithuanian newspaper board, assisted in organizing the community sports club Vytis, and participated in many cultural activities including seminars at Camp Dainava in Michigan. He was an active person-he enjoyed his garden, he had a passion for reading, and played tennis into his 80's. He was a loyal Raptors fan. He particularly enjoyed the numerous family get togethers whether in Toronto at "the cousins'" or at his daughter's home in Collingwood. Vytas is survived by his wife of 68 years: his "pupyte" Elena (Paskauskas), his son Eugene and daughter Loreta, his grandchildren: Indre, Juri, Simon and Larissa, as well as extended family in Lithuania: nieces Sigita, Dana and Irena, nephew Vytas (deceased); in Chicago: niece Angele and Hamilton: Cousin Vincas (deceased) and sister-in-law Irena Paskauskas of Toronto. The family will honour his life at a Mass at Labdara, on Wednesday, December 5th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception. Labdara's staff provided Vytas with palliative care and we are very grateful for the compassion, loving care and support that was shown him and our family during his stay there. They are truly kind and special people! There will be a Mass at the Lithuanian Church in Wasaga Beach on Saturday, May 4th at 2 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life in the Church Hall. Everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, any donations should be given to a charity of your choice, or to the Lithuanian Martyrs Church in Mississauga.
