In Celebration of

Vlado (Walter) Jelic

October 15, 1933 -  May 7, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Jelic who left us peacefully on May 7th, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Trillium Mississauga Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emily, and his children Suzanne (Brad), Walter (Kelley) and Peter (Kathleen). He was also the proud grandfather of Brian (Shannon), Jessica (Darren), Alannah (Nick) Kyle and his grand-furbaby Roxy. He was very excited of the newest addition to his family, great granddaughter Ava.

He is remembered by his brother Tom (Agatha) and his many nieces and nephews. Many remember Walter as a friendly neighbour with an early morning smile on his face and dapper fedora. In his retirement, Walter loved gardening with his vegetables and flowers and whistling while woodworking.

We Love You!

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., (Hwy. 10, N. of the QEW) on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Croatian Martyrs Church, 4605 Mississauga Rd, Mississauga, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 10 a.m.

Stric Vlado, I will truly miss you . You were a wonderful man and terrific Uncle. I marvel at your life, from very humble beginnings you ultimately enjoyed all the fruits of your hard work, perseverence and decency in Canada.

You loved your homeland Croatia and your adopted home Canada equally.

You always had a smile and an endearing positive attitude through thick and thin. You were a great brother to my dad Tomo. Your vivid stories of your early days in Lika were a welcome connection to our shared past. Your resilience in the face of such difficulties, along with your also now deceased brothers Josa, Mile and my dad Tomo made me extremely proud to be a Jelic.

You loved a nice glass of scotch, a good joke, good company but most of all your wife and family.

Pocivaj u vjecnom miru Stric, nikada necu te zaboraviti.
