In Celebration of

Violet Gardian

July 4, 1929 -  September 1, 2024

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Violet Gardian on September 1, 2024. Predeceased by her husband Thaddeus John (Ted), beloved mother of Ted, Denise, and Susan; cherished and loved by granchildren Samantha (Luis) and Kevin, she will be greatly missed. Violet was graced with the gift of length of years and lived a long life until her death at 95.

During the span of her time on earth she loved travelling and going on cruises. Her love of travel took her to many countries. All time favourites were Italy, especially the Vatican, discovering her genealogical roots in Poland, visiting Israel, and France.

She was an avid bridge player; playing with her bridge group: Kazia, Sophie, and Stella once a month for over twenty years.

Violet was a member of the Marie Sklodowska Curie Club an organization founded by daughters of the first wave of Polish immigrants between the first and second wars and thereafter. She loved going to the many Polish cultural events and dances at this club and developed bonds that led to many life long friends.
Violet also loved going to the family cottage on Georgian Bay. It was her favourite place to spend time with family; a place to unwind, of fun, and relaxation. Here overlooking the Bay, with the eternal and dynamic movement of waves, sandy beaches, gorgeous sunsets, surrounded by nature and beautiful starry nights she found solace and peace.

Sadly, in the summer of 2023 she had a premonition that this would be her last summer at the cottage and it was to be.

Violet was also a nurse who worked for the City of Toronto in the department of Health. Her specialty was immunization of children in schools across Toronto.

Violet was the matriarch and rock of our family: she will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren. Grief is the price you pay for love.

Special thank you to PSW’s: Claudia, Chris, Tyanna, and Antonel. Deep thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at the Dorothy Ley Hospice. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Dorothy Ley Hospice.

Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (Windermere and Bloor) on Sunday, September 8th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Vigil service at 7:30pm. A Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church (Bloor Street and Royal York Road) on Monday, September 9th at 11:00 am. Private interment will follow.
