In Celebration of

Vincent Howard Langley

April 24, 1933 -  October 14, 2024

Vince passed away peacefully at the Dorothy Ley Hospice on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the age of 91. He died due to complications related to a brain tumour. His wife Heather was by his side.

Born in Umtata, South Africa, Vince immigrated to Canada in 1960, where he worked in both Montreal and Toronto for the Royal Bank of Canada International Division. Vince and Heather divided their time between their homes in Toronto and the sunny shores of Florida, where Vince could be found enjoying his favourite pastimes. An avid sportsman, he biked, golfed, and played bocce in the warm winters in Florida. He was also a passionate tennis player who continued to hit the courts well into his later years, playing regularly until the onset of COVID.

Known for his sharp wit, kind heart, and warm demeanour, Vince was liked by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was never short of a witty remark or a humorous observation, and often times had those around him laughing with his quick comebacks. His serious and sensitive presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.

Vince is survived by his wife Heather (nee McAlpine) of 54 years, nieces and nephews in South Africa, Heather’s family in London and Dundas, Ontario, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law in Halifax.

One of Vince’s great loves in life was animals, and he was devoted to his pets over the years. He often said “If I can help one cat’s pain, I will not have lived in vain.” His compassion for animals was immeasurable.

Vince had a favourite saying: “You’re going to miss me when I’m gone!” How true!

If you choose to make a donation in Vince’s memory, please keep in mind the SPCA or Hope for Wildlife.

Rest in peace, Vince. Your kindness, humour, and love will be remembered.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel. Interment following at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Everyone needs a person that they can turn to for anything. You were my person. Thank you for being there for me. I miss you so much already.

Dear Heather and family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Vince's passing. He was such a kind and generous person and always made me feel at ease; he was fun to talk with at the many Snyder functions we were at together.

I can't imagine the emptiness his loss will bring and I'm sure there will be many hard days ahead. Please know that your friends are here for you and to remember to lean on them.

May Vince rest in peace.
