It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Joseph Albuquerque, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born in Soroti, Uganda, Victor lived a remarkable 95 years filled with devotion, humour, perseverance, adventure, and an unshakable love for family.

Victor attended Sydenham College in Mumbai, where he earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1951 before returning to Uganda. On September 16, 1962, he married his cherished wife, Pamela D’Cunha, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage, building a life grounded in faith, laughter, and resilience. Together, they raised four beautiful daughters, - Late Gillian (Desmond), Alison (Jeffrey), Desiree, and Debbie (Farid) who were the pride and joy of his life. He was also a deeply loved and committed grandfather to Alexandra, Victoria (Simon), Jordan (Sabrina), Nicole (Mike), Matthew (Sam), Courtney, Sydney, Kristen, Ethan, Riana, and Natasha, each of whom carries a piece of his generous spirit.

Having worked in Uganda as Controller for USAID for many years, Victor faced unimaginable upheaval when his family was forced to leave during Idi Amin’s expulsion of Asians in 1972. Undeterred, he started anew in Toronto, where his determination and strong work ethic became an inspiration to all who knew him. At the age of 52, he achieved his CMA designation, a testament to his commitment to lifelong learning and perseverance. He went on to serve as Senior Economist with the Ministry of Treasury and Economics, ultimately retiring as Manager of the Fiscal Policy Branch at the age of 63.

A lifelong sportsman, Victor found joy in competition and camaraderie. He excelled in field hockey, soccer, badminton, table tennis, and pickle ball, and his love of the game was matched only by his passion for travel, adventure, and food. Deeply proud of his Goan heritage, Victor loved everything about Goa and was a true linguist, fluent in English, Konkani, Hindi, Swahili, and some Marathi. Whether exploring a new country, perfecting a recipe, or sharing stories, Victor lived life with enthusiasm and purpose.

Above all, Victor will be remembered for his sharp wit, incredible kindness, and playful spirit. His quick humour and endless pranks brought joy to countless gatherings, and his laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.

Victor’s life was a testament to resilience, family, and the power of love to transcend hardship. His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the meals he shared, and the deep affection he leaves behind.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Visitation: Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga.

Funeral Mass: Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church, 409 Markland Drive, Etobicoke.
