Verna was a niece to my father, Fred Moffatt. Verna’s mother, Muriel Longstreet, was my father’s sister (1 of 6 plus a brother). I am the oldest of Fred’s 4 sons, all of us considerably younger than Verna as Fred was the youngest of his siblings and was closer in age to many of his nieces and nephews than he was to his brother and six sisters. Verna and Fred spoke by phone frequently right up to Fred’s passing in 2007.
Verna was an amazing lady. I hope Heaven enjoys her laughter as much as I did.
God rest your peaceful soul Auntie Verna. You lived a long happy life with many friends & a family that ltruly oved you. You worked till a ripe age of 83 at both reitmens & Avon. I remember loving the Avon gifts you gave me on occasions when l was young. You loved going dancing at Palace Royal on lakeshore. Also your involvement with the armorries at fort york & the signals band. You were an independent strong lady raised from a little girl & passed away in the same home, increadable !! I love you & will miss you . 🙏❤
I have many fond memories of my Auntie Verna . . . both personal visits as well as telephone conversations. I rememver as a little girl being so excited for her visits along with the many mini lipsticks & other Avon samples she would bring me. I remember her generosity & love for my children. And most importantly, our many telephone conversations, where we shared aboutl our Christian faith & love for our Lord. She would share of her sleepless nights & tuning into 100 Huntley Street & Night Life Live to find peace & solace. Truly a remarkanle woman who lived life to the fullest, almost to the very end of her 101 + years! She will be sorely missed by all who knew & loved her. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." ~ 2 CORINTHIANS 5:8 Rest in eternal Heavenly peace Auntie Verna . . . "Till We Meet Again." 💗🙏 XoxO
Blessings to you Verna.
Thank you for letting us into your life.
Your independent spunk and flirtatious humour uplifted us.
You will be missed, yet remembered in every rose that blooms.
