In Celebration of

Verna Fay Baird

October 31, 1940 -  April 8, 2021

Verna Baird was born on October 31st 1940 in Sydney Nova Scotia to Hazel and Percy Richardson.

One thing Verna enjoyed was spending time with people. Her philosophy of life was "I believe in you". She wouldn't have expressed those words per se, but she showed it by supporting almost everyone who came her way. Whether it was her children, her grand-children, or great-grandchildren, or cousins, sisters, nieces, brothers...you name it - she found a way to help. She will not be forgotten.

For someone who was afraid of getting old, blessing us with 80 years of laughter and practical jokes was quite an accomplishment. The Lord saw fit to usher her into his presence on April 8th where she will join a chorus of family members who went before her...along with her first husband Douglas, her second partner Jim Morrison, and her beloved daughter Elizabeth.

Verna is survived by 3 of her children, James(Sonja) - Sandra - and Marilynn(Steve) as well as her grandchildren - Virgina(Kevin), Jaqueline, Jessica(Ken), Tiffany(Rocco), AJ, Perrin(T.J.), and her great grandchildren Nate, Slade, Drake, Malakai, Izayah and Godric...many of whom affectionately referred to her as Dinosaur.

As she passed into glory, her parting words were "See you later". Those last words expressed her heart, which like the door to her house, was always open to receiving someone and laughing up a storm. See you later Verna...

A private family Funeral will be held, but for those who wish to view a Livestream of the Funeral at 10 am Saturday, please copy and paste this link into your internet browser at https://youtu.be/Onv9LYRG1Vg

I will always cherish my time with her, me and my wife Tiffany took her many times to bingo and the casino. She would always win! She was a kind and loving woman, she would put you in your place when needed. She always supported Tiffany and I. We love you and will miss you! She told me that she will keep the gates open for us in heaven.
