In Celebration of

Vera Olynyk

March 19, 1934 -  January 9, 2023

It is with deep sadness that the family of Vera Luba Olynyk (nee Bundza) announces her passing on January 9, 2023. Vera passed away at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario with her family at her side.

She leaves behind her husband of nearly seventy years, Henry Olynyk, her children Michael (Trudy) and Andrea, her sisters Natalie Bundza and Linda Bundza, sister-in-law Helen Rising, son-in-law Stefano Radaelli, and grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, and Andrew and Katie. Vera was predeceased by her beloved daughter Joanne Natalie (Radaelli), who passed away in 2021.

Vera was an accomplished soloist with the Sudbury, Winnipeg, and London Philharmonic Societies, as well as the Fanshawe Choral Ensemble. She was also a devoted piano teacher throughout her life. Her contribution to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was notable, serving as choir director in Sudbury for fifteen years and later in London for over two decades. Vera also worked at Labatt Brewery and London Life in Public Relations, as well as enjoying post-retirement work at the London Art Gallery. She and Henry called London their home for over forty years, and thoroughly enjoyed their shared love of music, the Ukrainian culture, and the arts that the city had to offer. They moved to Evergreen Retirement Home in Mississauga in 2019 to be closer to their family.

We are deeply grateful for the compassionate care and support provided by the staff at Evergreen Retirement Home and the VON nurses throughout her illness.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023, at 11 am at the All Saints of Ukraine Chapel, 1280 Dundas St. West, Oakville ON, followed by burial at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery.
