In Celebration of

Vera Oliveen Warner

July 4, 1937 -  January 8, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and beloved mother, aunt, and friend – Vera Oliveen Warner. Vera left us peacefully on January 8, 2022, after a long but courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Sandy Point, St. Kitts to James Warner and Marion Matthew Warner on July 4, 1937, she had a brother and was the eldest of two girls. Vera taught Grade School in St. Kitts. She later moved to Toronto Canada after a brief stay in New York City. In Toronto, she attended Ryerson Polytechnic Institute where she obtained a business certificate. Her qualifications and experience gave her the opportunity to work in the claims department at Aviva Canada. Vera eventually retired after nearly 20 years at the company. In her retired years, she enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking her famous oxtail, and baking sweet treats. She also enjoyed making regular trips with her friends to Orillia.

Known for her kind heart, humour and giving spirit, Vera was a blessing to be around. To those who were blessed enough to call her family, friend, or acquaintance, she was a beacon of light, joy, and peace. She was a sweet, kind, and gentle soul, who would literally give you the shirt off her back to ensure you felt comfortable and loved. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Most of all though, she loved her daughter, "Cassa" – who will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her daughter Cassandra Warner, nephews Carlisle Sealy and Alrick Warner, niece Vanessa Smith, and several great nephews and nieces. Vera leaves a vast hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always touched by her generosity.

Vera is now at peace, joining her parents, younger sister Ermyne, and older brother Vincent.
