In Celebration of

Veljka Kapov

July 12, 1942 -  October 24, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Veljka Kapov, age 83, of Toronto, on October 24, 2025.

Born on July 12, 1942, in Kaštel Kambelovac, Croatia, Veljka carried with her a deep love for her homeland and its traditions. After moving to Canada in 1965, she built a wonderful life centered on family, faith, and community. She valued her connection to Our Lady Queen of Croatia Church in Toronto and cherished the many friendships she formed within the Croatian community.

Veljka was the beloved wife of the late Duje Kapov, and a devoted mother to Mary Kapov (Michael), John Kapov, and Nick Kapov (Shauna). She was a proud grandmother to Matthew, Liam, Daniela and Dario.

She is now reunited with her beloved parents, Ivan and Nikolina Jurašin, and her sister, Marija Plavčić, whose memories she carried lovingly throughout her life. She will also be fondly remembered by many relatives and friends in Croatia, where her roots and heart will always remain.

Veljka loved spending time in her garden, where she took great pride in growing her vegetables and tending to her beautiful flowers. She valued her friendships dearly and was always there to offer laughter and support to those she cared about.

She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Veljka’s warmth, generosity, and faith touched the lives of all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Veljka’s memory may consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., on Friday, November 7th from 5-8 p.m., with prayers at 8:15 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our lady Queen of Croatia Church, 7 Croatia St, Toronto, on Saturday, November 8th 10 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery.

Mary, John, and Nick, I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your mother. Take comfort that your mom's love and guidance will forever be a part of each of you.  Continue to cherish the many fun stories and beautiful memories you and the grandchildren shared with your mom. Veljka has probably already volunteered herself to tend to some beautiful gardens in heaven!
