In Celebration of

Ursula Maria Balas

May 20, 1931 -  January 23, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ursula Maria Balas (nee Kudelko), aka our “Tante Ulla”. She was a kind, generous, and gentle soul who believed in the goodness in everyone, a caring aunt, great-aunt, sister, and friend.

Born May 20, 1931, in Klausberg, Germany, Ursula lived through WWII and the hardships of its aftermath, survived tuberculosis, and immigrated to Canada. She loved the theatre, the arts, performances, singing, cooking, and the outdoors, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Preceded by her husband George, she will be dearly missed by her siblings Hans, Friedel, and Barbara, her nieces Silvia (Frank), Marina (Michael), Andrea (Markus), her nephews Martin (Gordana), Robert (Theresa), Daniel (Andrea), Peter, Vali, Stefan and Michael, and all her great nieces and nephews, Kylie, Jaime, Justin, Sophia, Joseph, Abby, Oliver, Tea, Eva, Max, Elisa, Alexandra, Fabian, and Manuel.

Her grace, good humour, kindness, generosity, and strong-willed nature will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her. We will carry her memory in our hearts always.

Rest in peace, Tante Ulla.
