We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Tobias Freitas on the morning of Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the age of 87. Tobias passed away at Erie Shores HealthCare, Leamington, surrounded by his loving family that he protected and loved dearly.
Tobias’ presence will be missed, yet he will forever be in our hearts as he watches over us from heaven.
Tobias was the beloved husband of Maria for 60 years, cherished father of Danny (Jackie) and Steven (Bela). Adored Avô to Melissa, Amanda, Justin, Victoria, Christina and Bis Avô to Francesca, Angelo, Guiliana, Massimo, Ariella, Aaliyah and Giovanni.
As one of 19 children born to parents Joaquim and Dolentina, Tobias is predeceased by his siblings Bemvinda, Alice, Deolinda, Eduardo, Daniel, Dimas, Antero 1.º, Cremilde, Messias, Julieta, Antero 2.º, Zita, Maria 1.ª, Maria 2.ª and Maria 3.ª. Tobias is survived by Joao, Vidalia and Cidalia.
Tobias was born in Lombinha, Bretanha, São Miguel, Açores, Portugal on February 10, 1936 and served as a Cabo in the Portuguese Army at the Fortress of São Brás in Ponta Delgada in 1957. In 1959, Tobias had the courage to immigrate to Toronto Canada where he sponsored many family members to join him for a better life.
Tobias will be forever remembered for his gentle and kind demeanor and for the love, devotion and pride that he had for his family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., (N of QEW) on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 3-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 101 Malta Ave., Brampton on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Entombment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, 6933 Tomken Rd., Mississauga.
