In Celebration of

Thomas (Tom) Charles King

August 11, 1928 -  December 20, 2023

On December 20, 2023, Thomas (Tom) Charles King in his 96th year went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Gwendolyn (nee Vickery).

Tom was born August 11, 1928, in Bowmanville, Ontario, the son of Irene and William King, and brother of Shirley (Vern) Presley.

His faith in Jesus was paramount to Tom, followed closely by his love for his family: children Sandra (Stephen) Haist, Stephen (Wendy) King, Kenneth (Sharon) King, and Sharon (Brian) McFarlane. He was a loving and involved grandfather to Aaron (Laura), Nathan (Claire), Benjamin (Anastasiya), Lyndsay, Rebecca, Mathew (Rebecca), Kyle and Dawson, and great-grandchildren: Kaleb, Darius, Karma, Gabrielle, Odin, Oscar, Gwendolyn, Ava, Tessa, Shepherd, Ezra, and Zachary.

Tom was raised in New Toronto. Losing his father as a teenager, he went out to work to support his mother and sister. Tom was a long-time faithful member of Long Branch Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. It was there he met and married Gwen. Tom was faithful in praying for and supporting missionaries, family, friends, and anyone who had a need.

In his career, Tom worked in sales in the paper and bookbinding industry. He was a passionate golfer and also played many other sports throughout his life. He enjoyed taking his family on vacation and Florida was a favorite destination both as the children grew, and later in retirement when he and Gwen spent winter months there.

Gardening was a favourite pastime for Tom, and he especially enjoyed his roses and hydrangeas.

Tom was keenly interested in people and he always stopped to chat with neighbors and the people he met on his daily walks.

We will miss Dad (Grandpa) but we rejoice that his “faith is now sight” and that he is now hearing, “well done good and faithful servant.”

Friends may call to the Turner & Porter "Neweduk-Erin Mills" Chapel on Saturday, December 30th, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Chapel Service to begin at 10:30 a.m., and a private family interment.

In someways, it is so sad to hear this news though Tom is in a better place now with the Lord. Tom was one of our closest prayer partners and friend! Can’t believe Tom is no more! One of the most amazing God fearing and loving friend we have ever known!

Janet and I like to express our deepest condolences at this difficult time as the family and friends grieve the loss of Tom. May our Lord comfort you all!

With much love & prayers,
Janet & George
