Tom passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, on Sunday, May 19 after a long stretch of medical challenges.

He was born on December 18, 1962 and grew up in Mississauga. Tom attended Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton, then worked at Delta Hotels, later Hilton, for 30+ years.

He was predeceased by his dear father Matthew (1986). Tom is survived by his beloved mother Bruna, and his loving siblings Laura Mayne, Mary Young (Brian), and Rob Gumieniak (Liza). Tom loved his nieces and nephew. They are: Maddy Mayne, Jenn Aglor (Tyler, children Harper and Hayden), Matt Gumieniak (Devon Gibson), and Erin Gumieniak.

Tom enjoyed watching sports, spending time with family, and had great stores of knowledge about vintage tv shows and movies.

We will miss Tom forever.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later time.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Trillium Hospital (5J and 4J), and Milton Hospital (2 North) who cared for Tom over the last 21 weeks.

In lieu of donations, we invite you to do a random act of kindness for someone who needs it, to make contact with someone you’ve been meaning to get in touch with, and/or to bring a tiny slice of joy into someone’s day. Tom appreciated people who did this for him, and always responded with a fist bump and a “thank you”.
