In Celebration of

Theodore (Ted) Lagakos

September 23, 1930 -  January 17, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Theodore (Ted) Lagakos, surrounded by his family, on January 17th, 2024, at the age of 93. Ted overcame the adversities of war during his childhood, later immigrating by ship to Canada in 1956. He settled in Toronto, Ontario, alongside some of his siblings. A decade thereafter, he united in marriage with Eleni Koutoulas, who hailed from the same village. Ted, a spirited entrepreneur, owned and operated multiple restaurants in the Toronto area. His true joy was found in the restaurant business, where he engaged with patrons and delighted in preparing meals. Ted held a special place in his heart for the quaint village of Roupakia, nestled in the foothills of Mount Taygetos on the outskirts of Sparta, Greece – his birthplace.

Ted is remembered as the cherished husband of Helen, a loving father to Theodosios, Peter (Geena), and John (Mary), and a grandfather to Domenico, Stefano, Eleni, Katerina, Vayia, and Theodora. His warmth and kindness will be fondly recalled by family and friends, both in Canada and Greece.

Visitation will take place on Monday, January 22, 2024, from 6-9 p.m. at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. West, Toronto. The Funeral Service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 136 Sorauren Ave., Toronto.

Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

If so desired donations may be made to the Hellenic Home for the Aged (Toronto Location . Please see Donation tab), and/or flowers if preferred.

I have great memories of Uncle Ted - especially hanging out at the restaurant where he made the best burgers. We will miss him tremendously.
