On July 27, 2019, Ted passed away at the age of 88 at his residence in Toronto, Ontario.
Predeceased by his father Michael, mother Antonia (Tina), sisters Marilyn, Pauline Skiba, and Rose, and long time partner Charles Moray Chesney. Cherishing his memory are sisters Bernice Mazur and Phyllis Doran, brothers Victor and Brian (Jackie), and many nieces and nephews.

Ted grew up in Point Douglas in Winnipeg's north end and attended Norquay school and Saint Johns High school.
He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B. Sc. in Geology in 1953.

Ted worked several years in the oil exploration business, carrying out seismological explorations in the Peace River District in Canada and several countries around the world including Trinidad, Bolivia and Turkey.

Ted made a bold change of careers in the early 1960s, by dedicating his life to education. His first experience as a teacher was in a one-room school house in Lappe, Ontario, where he cared for children ranging from grades 1 to 8, which also involved preparing a daily fire to keep the children warm during the winter lessons. This isolated teaching assignment was followed by Selkirk Collegiate Vocational Institute in Fort William, now part of Thunder Bay, Ontario and his entry into the Canadian Army Reserves in 1962, where he was appointed to the 35th Technical Squadron as the Second Lieutenant. He also taught one year at Bell High School in Ottawa, Ontario and ended his teaching career of many years at Runnymede Collegiate in Toronto, Ontario, as Department Head of Physics. During his teaching years at Runnymede, Ted received a Diploma in Science and Mathematics for Education from the University of London, U. K. in 1976. Ted helped coordinate the institution of French Immersion at Runnymede CI. His teaching style and persona were loved by many, both students and colleagues alike. He was so loved by his students that he was given a superhero name "Kaptain Koz – All Canadian Science Teacher".

He loved tending to his plants. He had an amazing green thumb, passing not only his plants but also his talents onto other family members and friends.

Ted's love for pets began with bringing Tinker (mixed Terrier and Chihuahua) from Lappe back home to Winnipeg as a companion for his mother and siblings. Ted had a special caring for cats over many years, including Pepper, Muffin, Billy and Joey.

Ted had several passions which include photography, skiing, swimming, and travelling. On his travels, he visited many countries around the world including China, North & South Americas, Australia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Europe, Scandinavia and most of Canada focusing mainly on the history of the places he visited and their indigenous cultures.

Family was important to Ted. As the family hub, not only did he organize the family tree book but he also organized several family reunions.
He will be missed by all of us.

As per Ted's wishes, a visitation by friends and family will take place on August 8, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Turner & Porter, 2357 Bloor St West, Toronto, ON, M6S 1P4.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, in Ted's memory can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society, or Toronto Humane Society.
