Firstly, I love you, Mom. I can't begin to express how much you mean to me and I am so grateful for the time I had with you.

It is hard for me to pick just one story with you, so I will mention a few. Mom was a loving mother who would do everything and anything for me and my brother, Ian. My mom loved to read. I remember she would always read lots of books all the time and when we were little, we would jump in my parents bed, and she would tell us the stories of what she read. I always looked forward to her stories.

If you were to ask anyone who knew my mom, she was a very organized person and a planner. I remember when we were kids, she would always set up activities and crafts for us over the summer holidays so we would always have fun things to do. During the school year, I remember our lunches were perfectly packed with a variety of food and little love notes to have a nice day.

As many people are aware, my mom loved to cook. She was able to make such a diverse range of cuisine, and it always tasted so good. She also was a great baker. It was from watching my mom that I developed a love for baking. I am grateful from learning from her and will treasure all her recipes. I have bad allergies to nuts and sesame seeds and I was upset when I couldn’t eat certain foods. Lucky for me, my mom would always say, “don’t worry sweetie, I will make it for you.”

My mom loved learning about new countries and travelling. We were fortunate that our parents would take us with them travelling and I’m glad I had those experiences with them. My mom had the gift of the gab, so we would meet new people when travelling. I was able to chat about anything with my mom as we both loved to talk.

Seeing the relationship of my mom and my dad has been admirable. The way they had cared for each other over the years, the way my mom looked at my dad and the way dad has cared for her especially over the last few years really taught me true love.

My mom was a strong lady. She went through so much especially when she got sick. But she never once complained while going through all of this and showed us what true strength is. She was one of a kind, and I will miss her dearly.

I am very lucky to have shared these special few years with you. You have showed us what true resilience, strength and love looks like. Thelma was a very kind hearted person who welcomed anyone with open arms.

Going down memory lane, a few fond memories I have is: Always having family dinners together, being on the same team while playing cards/dominos, painting, listening to Chopin and travelling to Dominican and Prince Edward County. I will cherish all the memories and moments we have had together.

You will forever be in our hearts ❤️
