Passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the remarkable age of 103. Born April 30, 1921, in Toronto, ON, and passing in Guelph, ON.
Beloved wife of the late George Barbeau. Loving sister of Harry Drew and his wife Peggy. Cherished mother of Brian and his wife Helen, and Gail (deceased) and her husband Bert. Loving grandmother of six grandchildren and proud great-grandmother of fourteen great-grandchildren.
Thelma had a passion for baking and was well known for her beautiful and unique cakes she made for any special occasion, delicious éclairs, and amazing peanut butter balls. Thelma also created her own personalized cards for loved ones and always made sure her family woke up to her singing the birthday song on their special day. A lifelong learner, she attended college lectures well into her 90s. She dedicated over 20 years to volunteering as a peer counselor, offering support and guidance to her community. She will be remembered for her beautiful, warm smile, her kind and loving nature, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She often said, “There is nothing greater than love,” a sentiment she shared often with her family and friends.
Special thanks to the kind and supportive staff in Guelph at Riverside Glen for their care and compassion over the last 3 years of Thelma’s life.
