It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terpsihori “Terpsi” Kolovadis (nee Diakopoulos) on January 27, 2025, at the age of 79.

Terpsi was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In 1968, she married George who joined her in Toronto from Greece. A skilled and passionate hairdresser, Terpsi took pride in owning and operating Terpsi’s Beauty Salon for over 50 years, serving Toronto’s west end community and fostering countless friendships along the way.

Though she is no longer with us, Terpsi’s warmth, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. May her memory be eternal.

My beautiful θεία τερψή. How do I say goodbye to you? You gave me my first best friend (Angela), my first perm (that my father forced me to get), car rides in the back seat of your car with McDonalds apple pies and no seatbelts, your beautiful smile that warmed my heart, dancing in your basement, and running in your backyard. I will miss your "Soorrr" (sure), and your uf-corsss (of course), the jingling of your gold charm bracelets, and the warmth of your heart. I already miss the way you styled your hair, and the beautiful blouses you wore; the way you wheezed when you laughed really hard, which was all the time. You were the most beautiful soul; positivity, love, and goodness radiated from your heart in a way that one could not help but feel in your presence. One by one, I say goodbye to the Diakopoulos siblings but not without realizing the goodness of the hearts that you inherited from our ancestors and passed on to us. We will try and do each of you justice because you all deserve that much. I will love you forever. Your Giotoula

My Theia Terpsi was an important person in my life. She was always there for me for support, guidance and unwavering loyalty. Like my mother who courageously navigated her way from Greece to Canada to seek a better life for herself and her siblings, Theia Terpsi had an undying desire to do anything she could for her immediate and extended family. She was definitely the glue that kept all the family together, meeting at her welcoming home for countless family get-togethers.

It would be hard to meet a more kind, caring and generous person than Theia Terpsi. From her family, to her customers at her hair salon, to strangers that crossed her path, she was there to provide a helping hand and a warm smile.

The world is a little dimmer now that you are gone Theia. May you rest in peace and may you always be remembered as the truly special person you were.

Kalo Paradiso Theia mou.

My mother Helen was one of Terpsi’s many clients. For over 20 years, she and George would pick up my mother and several other senior ladies living in the area for their usual Friday morning hair appointments. The 5:30/6:00 am pickups were something truly special…every Friday….rain, shine, snow, 52 weeks a year. Terpsichore was an amazing, thoughtful, kind and giving individual. She will be missed. Thank you.
