In Celebration of

Sylvia Rzadkowski

November 12, 1935 -  November 25, 2021

Sylvia passed away peacefully, on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Casey. Cherished mother of Michael, Denise McCarroll (John), Joe, and the late Christopher and Michele Blais. Loving Babcia to Kieran, Leigha, Ethan, Siobhan, Nicole, Stuart and Ronan. Dear sister to Joan, Neil, Leo, Paul, Janet, Susie and Judy.

Sylvia's joyful, beautiful presence will be missed by her loving family and in the many communities that she touched; the close-knit Swansea neighbourhood where she spent over 60 years, the creative groups of gals at Studio C and Quilters@95, and the St. Pius X church community. She could always be relied upon to lend a listening ear, to bind a quilt for a friend, to recommend a "tender" book or movie, or to join an impromptu game of cards with her children and grandchildren. Sylvia's work didn't stop after her 40-year nursing career; she continued to donate her time and creative talent to causes close to her heart such as Quilts of Valour, the St. Joseph's Health Centre, Romero House, and L'Arche. In times of sorrow, her deep faith brought her comfort and strength, which she shared with those close to her.

Visitation will be at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 & 5:00-7:00 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2305 Bloor St. W., on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Registration is required to attend, please visit www.turnerporter.ca to register in advance.

Donations in Sylvia’s memory may be made to St. Joseph's Health Centre or the charity of your choice.

As a recent member to the Quilt Guild I feel I was just getting to know Sylvia. I enjoyed a few visits with her over quilts and quilting and will fondly remember her sneaking an extra chocolate into my hand on the way out of her door with a great chuckle. She was fun to be around in guild meetings and retreats. I will miss her smile and happy personality.
My condolences to her entire family.
