In Celebration of

Sylvia Dias

August 27, 1929 -  October 26, 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Dias, aged 93. She passed peacefully on Oct 26, 2022 surrounded by her family members at Evergreen retirement residence.

We are comforted in knowing that she had a good life, is in a better place, and is now reunited with her late and beloved husband Reggie Dias.

Sylvia was a devoted mother to Pam (Vince) D’Mello, June (Raymond) Tavares and Gavin Dias. Proud grandmother to Ryan (Keisha), Warren, Rachel, Emma (Miguel), Kevin and Coltyn. Caring great grandmother to Aliyah and Makayla.

Sylvia is survived by her brothers Charles / late Blossom, Ronnie / Jennifer (India), late Isidore / Vida (England), and sister Ivy / late Willie (England).

She will be missed for her calm and composed demeanor, jovial personality, sense of humour, rhyming phrases and her delicious food.

We wish to thank the staff at Evergreen retirement, for providing her with dignified and exceptional care for the past few years.

The funeral mass will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 480 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke, Ontario on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 11.30 am, followed immediately by a reception in the adjacent church hall.

In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada can be made in Sylvia’s memory.

My dearest mama ,
You have always been the pillar in the family ; your sense of humour , love, and cooking will be missed dearly ; but we are all happy that you are finally at rest and with our beloved grandfather. May your spirit shine upon us all and give strength to those who find it difficult to accept those with uncompromising values
Love you always and forever mama

My dear Godmother told jokes that made even me blush 🙂 She was wise and a rock that her husband, rightly, adored. I am proud of her and the wonderful family that she and her husband raised. I am honoured to have been her (very fat, apparently) Godson. Love you all. xx

Pam, June and Gavin, please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your Mum, Aunty Sylvie. I remember the good old days in Entebbe at the EGI. I last met her at the Entebbe Reunion in Torono. My parents Gilbert and Julie will be pleased to welcome her in heaven. Your happy memories will get you through these difficult days and she will always have a special space in your hearts.
