In Celebration of

Sylvia Anastasia Allen (née Chwalka)

March 29, 1929 -  December 10, 2025

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the age of 96. Predeceased by her parents, Frances and Joseph, and seven siblings. Beloved wife of the late Glen. Loving mother of David (Maureen), and Kathy (Miguel). Proud grandmother of Claudia, Justin, Dawson, and Devon. Sylvia will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews, including Carole whose frequent visits meant so much to her and Ed’s cherished communications. A woman of strong Catholic faith, Sylvia found comfort in prayer and the support of her church community throughout her life. Sylvia and Glen were longtime residents of Etobicoke, where they loved raising their family, volunteering, and being part of a close-knit community. They were grateful for the warmth of wonderful neighbours and the many friendships and connections that made Etobicoke home.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Tuesday, from 4-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 3055 Bloor St. W., west of Royal York Rd, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 11 o’clock. Interment to follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to Canadian Food for Children https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/4714.

Sylvia was a Lady with so much class and style.
Her strong independence that she showed at her age was remarkable.
She will truly be missed.
My condolences to the family.

I was so saddened to hear about Aunt Sylvia passing. She was a wonderful person who touched the lives of many. Aunt Sylvia was kind, funny and caring. I have such fond memories of her, especially when Aunt Sylvia came to Chicago to visit. Wishing you comfort and peace. Love Mary & Rick

So sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I know from our short time knowing each other she had a tremendous positive impact on your life. As I read the tribute listed here in the funeral notice how lucky your whole family was to have enjoyed her company. I'm sure she will live forever in your family's collective memory.
