In Celebration of

Susan Robins

November 4, 1941 -  March 13, 2023

Passed away peacefully in Toronto at the Village of Humber Heights long-term care residence, on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Robins. Loving mother of Jeremy (Kerrie) and Nicholas (Rachel). Adoring grandmother ('Moma') of Andrew, Emma, Ben, Chloe and Olivia. Much-loved sister of Michael Secker and sister-in-law Janet Secker in New Zealand.

Sue was born in Palmerston North, New Zealand and entered the teaching profession when she was 20. She taught primary school in England, Scotland, New Zealand and Australia before emigrating to Toronto in 1968 with Thomas. Here she continued to teach with the Toronto District School Board at several schools in the east and west ends of the city, retiring after over 25 years of dedicated service.

After her retirement, Sue volunteered at the Art Gallery of Ontario, was a member of the Women’s Art Institute, sang in several choirs and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and her much-loved homeland of New Zealand. She will be greatly missed by all her extended family and friends in New Zealand, Canada and England. Sue’s family is very grateful to the excellent care she received at the Village of Humber Heights in the last part of her life.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter 'Yorke' Chapel, 2357 Bloor St W., Toronto (Runnymede and Bloor) on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the Service of Remembrance in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. If desired, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Susan and her husband Tom became my instant lifelong friends when as a teenager I was introduced to them at their home. Susan and Tom were two of the most civilized and congenial people I have ever known. Sue was always able to see the humour and bright side of any situation. Her sunshiny personality will always be one of my most cherished memories. Rest in peace, Sue. - Your friend, Bob

My husband, Steadman & I traveled with your Dad & had some amazing adventures. I always felt like I knew your Mother because he talked so lovingly about her. Thanks for letting us know when he passed away a few years ago. Steadman passed away June 2021….maybe they are up in Heaven having more crazy little adventures on a train, a boat or some questionable restaurant! I’m so sorry for your loss of you Mother. Your Dad sure loved ALL of you!

I remember Sue as being so full of life and joy to the point of bursting. Always on the go and always keeping Tom in line with a funny quip or two. A truly great person who didn’t deserve Alzheimer’s . Rest well Sue.
