In Celebration of

Stuart Edward Knell

October 29, 1940 -  April 26, 2023

My best friend, soulmate and the love of my life has gone home to God.
Stuart passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2023, with his family by his side.

Beloved husband of 57 years to Marlene (Dicks).

Stuart was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn (Thomson) and father, George Arthur Knell and his brothers, Malcolm, and Samson.
He was the loving father of Jason (Marjorie) and Jonathan (Anne-Sophie Brieger), and the cherished grandfather of Joshua, Lucas, Victoria, Chantal, Caitlin, Chanel and Chloe.

England-born, Scotland-raised, Stuart arrived in Canada on April 18, 1963, and the night the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup. Stuart proceeded to walk up Yonge Street to spend the night in the YMCA and there learned what all the fuss was about. Hockey! Welcome to Canada!

Once settled in Toronto, Stuart worked at All-Weld and later, joined Douglas Aircraft in March 1966.
He was employed by the Peel District School Board (PDSB) in 1976 as a Custodian and later he fulfilled a three-year apprenticeship in maintenance. Stuart retired as a Facilities Service Manager in 2006. Over the course of this 30-year career, Stuart made many life-long friends.

After retirement, Stuart and Marlene (aka Mar) travelled the world. A passionate golfer and cyclist, Stuart rode his bike until his 78th year.

The ultimate gentleman, Stuart was renowned for his honesty and loyalty—a big personality with a great sense of humour. His family and friends will never forget his laugh.

While Stuart’s family has honoured him privately, his life will be celebrated by all on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Oakville Executive Golf Club.

No flowers please.

To honour Stuart, please donate to Peel Learning Foundation.

God bless you Stuart.
Such a wonderful person to know and work with.
Dry sense of humor at times but so very funny.
Always enjoyed playing golf with him, a true Scotsman.

Rest in peace my friend.
