In Celebration of

Stjepan Zganjer

December 11, 1941 -  May 7, 2023

Stjepan, or as many knew him, Steve, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Ian Anderson House in Oakville at the age of 81. He was the beloved patriarch of his family: husband, father and grandfather.

Steve is survived by his devoted wife Danica; and predeceased by his beloved wife and mother to their children, Nevenka (d. 1987). He was a loving father to his late daughter Ellen (Michael) Jezerinac and to his son Steve Jr (Ivanka) and cherished grandfather to Daniela, Dario, Pavo, Angelina and Lucija. He also leaves behind his brothers Josip (Magdica) and Ivan (Marina), his sister Katica (the late Ivan), his sister-in-law Ankica (the late Ivica), his nieces and nephews with their families and his stepson Bobby.

Stjepan came to Canada in 1969 and was always motivated to provide for his family. Starting a tool & die business with his partner Grga Cacic in 1981, they always strived to provide excellent workmanship, and for this they were well respected in the industry. He loved to sing and dance at functions, play sports, especially golf. Vacations to warm destinations were always welcome, especially visiting his family and friends in Croatia each year. He was a very happy and giving person and will be deeply missed by his family as well as many kumovi and friends, both here in Canada and in his homeland of Croatia.

The family would like to thank the entire staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House for their care and support in Steve’s final days, as well as the PSWs from VON and nurses from Spectrum who provided exceptional home care in these final years.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Croatian Martyrs Church, 4605 Mississauga Rd, Mississauga, ON, on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10 a.m.

Interment Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ian Anderson House or to Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
