In Celebration of

Steven William Trofimchuk

November 11, 1957 -  January 14, 2025

'Into the Great Wide Open, Under Them Skies of Blue'

Steven William Trofimchuk, devoted husband of Diane Pavlou and beloved father of Lauren, Evan, and Sarah Trofimchuk, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 14th, at his home in Mississauga, Ontario. Steve’s kindness, humor, and boundless love will be deeply missed by his family. He leaves behind his cherished mother-in-law, Athanasia Pavlou; nephews Mark and Michael Prosia; sister-in-law, Bessie Prosia; son-in-law, Lélian Girard; and his soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Alexandra Famiglietti.

Born in 1957 in Etobicoke, Ontario, Steve was the eldest of four siblings: Lynn, Lori, and Karen, and son of Walter and Irene Trofimchuk. He often reminisced about the invaluable life lessons he learned from his Ukrainian grandfathers, Martin and Fred, particularly in handiwork—a skill he enthusiastically applied to countless DIY projects at home and the Meaford family cottage over the years.

Steve’s passion for music was a defining part of his life. A talented trumpeter, he performed in several bands and was an avid enthusiast of classic rock. Some of his all-time favourite artists included The Rolling Stones, The Tragically Hip, Steely Dan, and Tom Petty. He fondly recalled sitting front-row at The Rolling Stones’ legendary Phoenix Concert Theatre show in Toronto, claiming he could "feel Mick’s sweat".

After graduating from Humber College with a Business Diploma, Steve built a successful career in marketing and sales leadership. His journey took him through notable companies including Unilever, Good Humor, Parmalat, Mattel, Diversey, and Lactalis, where he left his mark launching numerous successful brands and campaigns that Canadians know and love.

Steve’s zest for life was evident in everything he did. An easygoing and present soul, he especially found joy in cycling, hockey and golf (despite joking that his skills only seemed to decline with practice). Most recently, he fulfilled a dream by purchasing his retirement bicycle, with plans for a European cycling adventure organized by his son, Evan, for Steve’s anticipated 70th birthday.

Whether he was on the rink, the golf course, or at a family gathering, Steve brought passion, humour, and warmth to every moment. His greatest joy was making others laugh, feel welcome, and be genuinely happy. Steve was a passionate Canadian, and loved spending time on Georgian Bay with friends, exploring the Grey Bruce Trail with his wife and kids, and pushing his snowblower with a grin on his face every winter.

Steve’s memory will be a beacon of love, laughter, and genuine curiosity of the people and world around him. May we honour his legacy by cherishing our loved ones, embracing life with joy, and never missing a chance to make someone smile.

In lieu of flowers The Trofimchuk Family kindly requests that donations be made to the Heart & Stroke foundation link: https://heartandstrokeinmemory.crowdchange.ca/page/stevenwilliamtrofimchuk.

Steve, you were always like the brother I never had. My heart is broken that you passed much too soon. I loved you so much & will always remember your warm smile and your kindness & thoughtfulness to me & our family. Whenever I needed some help with something, you were always there like the time, I locked my keys in the car & you drove from work to get an extra key & help me. I feel honored to have known you & for you to have been a part of my life & you will be truly missed every day. You will always have a special place in my heart & until we meet again, may you rest in peace. Wishing you eternal love & peace, your sister-in-law, Bess. xoxo
