In Celebration of

Stanislav Bobnic

August 16, 1933 -  August 16, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanislav (Stan) Bobnic on August 16, 2024, at the Dom Lipa Retirement Home in Etobicoke. He reached his personal goal of achieving the amazing age of 91 and survived it until his actual birthday.

Stan, predeceased by his lovely wife Kathy, will be truly missed by his family. He was a devoted father to Stan Bobnic (Jr), Rosemarie Tarasenko (Steve) and his stepchildren Thomas St. John (Carolyn), Debora Jensen (David), Larry St. John (Janet).

Stan was also a very proud Grandfather (Deda) to Jordan Bobnic, Kristian Bobnic and Kurtiss Jensen, which he loved immensely.

He was born in Rožno, Slovenija on August 16, 1933, as the youngest of 9 children to the proud parents of Franc and Antonia Bobnic.

In December 1957 he made his way to Canada by ship and settled in the Dufferin Grove area of Toronto. It was there where he became a skilled master carpenter and cabinet maker.

Stan was a true perfectionist and whether he was building furniture, designing and assembling structures/decks/cottages/enclosures, they all turned out flawless. He took his time and could never be rushed. Of course, the result was always total perfection. Stan never measured incorrectly, nor had to cut twice.

He was an active member of the Slovenian community and enjoyed picnics/banquets to no end. Always relishing in the social setting of food, music, dancing and chatting with friends.

In his later years, Stan was always a well-known entity within his surroundings. At the house, everyone knew when the “men’s club” in the garage, was open for business. He was constantly maintaining his beautiful gardens, that the entire neighbourhood enjoyed while offering assistance and advice for their own home-improvement projects.

After transitioning to Dom Lipa, he played an active role in becoming part of the social committee, putting on concert DVD’s or church Mass from the internet to the joy of his fellow residents. He also took on the role of hosting a bi-monthly session as “President of the Feedback Loop” where he would advocate for an improved overall experience for the retirement residence. He was well revered by the staff, workers and his fellow neighbours alike.

Stan was also a devout Catholic and worshiped at St. John of the Cross in Mississauga.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel (1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga). Funeral Mass will be held at St. John of the Cross Carmelite Church (6890 Glen Erin Drive, Mississauga) on Wednesday September 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Followed by an interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery (6933 Tomken Road, Mississauga)

No planned reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dom Lipa Retirement Home.
