It is with great sadness we announce, Stanisław Niewójt passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the age of 84. Dearest husband of Janina, beloved father of Lawrence (Daria) and Janek (Jennifer) and proud Dziadzia (Grandpa) to Rosie and Millie. Predeceased by his siblings (Ryszard, Sabina, Marysia), he will be deeply missed by his brother Zbigniew (Matilda), nieces (Bożena, Justyna), nephews (Robert, Wojciech, Łukasz) and friends in his hometown Opatów, Poland. He was a positive mentor and devoted his life to helping others. Following the completion of university studies in science in Poland, he immigrated to Canada and worked for 31 years at the University of Toronto’s Department of Ophthalmology. His research focused on developing new surgical and teaching methods that would improve patient outcomes. Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter--Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto, on Tuesday, January 28 at 5-9PM (Prayer Service at 7PM). Funeral Mass to be held at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 12 Denison Ave., Toronto, on Wednesday, January 29 at 11AM. Burial at Park Lawn Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church.
