It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sofiya Kharaton on Wednesday October 29, 2025. She passed away peacefully at the Ivan Franko Home, at the age of 94.
Born in Mshana, Ukraine, she spent most of her life living in Lviv, Ukraine. In 2002 she moved to Canada, calling Mississauga her home from then on.
Sofiya was always devoted to her family, her greatest joy. She was the beloved wife of her late first husband, Stephan for 45 years, and her second late husband Myhailo for 16 years. Loving mother of daughter Luba-Anna and son-in-law Evhen, and son Stephan and daughter-in-law Luba. Doting God mother to God son Roman and God daughter-in-law Slava. Adored grandmother to granddaughter Zoryana, granddaughter Yulia and grandson-in-law Volodia, granddaughter Marta and grandson-in-law Greg. Great grandmother to Sashko, Justin, and Yaroslava. Caring aunt to niece Solomiya and nephew-in-law Bartek, grandnephew Alex and grandniece Lilliana and niece Ivanka. She will be forever in our hearts.
We would like to thank all those who gave Sofiya such wonderful care at the end of her life: her last days were comfortable, contented, and surrounded by love.
