In Celebration of

Sofia Rose (Fia) Panacci

March 27, 1936 -  October 14, 2023

At home on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Peter.

Fia was born in Toronto to parents Matthew, a fine artist, and Sue, a long-time Toronto Star employee. She grew up in Little Italy and was employed with the Household Finance Company before she and Peter set up house in Mississauga in the early 1970s. For 49 years, they enjoyed get-togethers with family, friends and neighbours. They loved to laugh.

Fia is lovingly remembered by her close-knit cousins, including the Ascione, Cinanni, Elia, Fazzari, Morello, Panacci, Perfetti and Tomaiuolo families; sisters-in-law Mari-Anne Tomaiuolo (late Frank) and Delores Cavaliere (Tony); and many nieces, nephews and their families. A special thank you to Norman as well as the Doane family for their friendship and compassion.

Family and friends are invited for visitation at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 921 Flagship Dr. (at Tomken Road), Mississauga on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery, 305 Erskine Avenue, Toronto.

Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

I was very saddened to hear about Fia's passing. She and I were classmates at St. Francis School from 1941 to 1949 and then at St. Joseph's College School from 1949 to 1954. We continued to see each other and often had lunches or dinners with the other girls from our schooldays throughout our lives. Peter and Fia and Denis and I aften had lunch or dinner together (before Covid). They visited often in our home and we always enjoyed their company. I miss her and will continue to keep her in my prayers. Please accept my sincere condolences - she was a wonderful lady.
God bless you all. She loved her family so.
May she have Eternal Rest.
