It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Simonne Kornuta (nee Beumier), age 92. Predeceased by her husband Jackiw and her son Bohdan. Cherished mother of Oksana (Bohdan) and Christina (Adrian). Baba to Ulana (Michael), Markian (Alexandra), Adrian, Kalyna (Cory), Tanya, Michael, Andrew and Paul. Pra Baba to Eva, Yulia, Madeleine, Elise, and Annika.
As a young wife and mother Simonne emigrated from her home in Belgium to Toronto Canada. Both Jackiw and Simonne worked hard to establish themselves and their growing family in Canada. Although Simonne immersed herself in the Ukrainian community, she was always proud of her Belgian heritage. She was a long-time member of the women’s choir Dibrova, expressing her love of music with her beautiful soprano voice. Her favorite pastime was cross stitching Ukrainian embroidery. When her great granddaughters learned, at school, the Hail Mary in French, it gave her great joy to recite the prayer with them.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to the postsurgical medical and nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Health Centre for their help, support and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 5 to 8 pm. at Turner & Porter, Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street, West, Mississauga, ON. Panakhyda at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at St. Volodymyr’s Chapel, 1280 Dundas Street W., Oakville, ON. Interment to follow at St. Volodymyr’s Cemetery.
