In Celebration of

Shirley Margaret Saull (nee Morgan)

June 6, 1932 -  July 5, 2024

Passed away peacefully at Post Inn Village, Oakville, on July 5, 2024, surrounded by family and compassionately supported by staff.

Shirley joins her late husband, Bernie, and the many friends, family, and beloved pets who we know will be waiting for her. She will be deeply missed by her son, Tom (Judy), her daughter, Mary (Scott), her six grandsons, Jamie (Susan), Daniel, Teddy (Emma), Owen (Amelia), Ryan (Hannah), and Quinn (Nicole), and her two great grandsons, Luke and Patrick.

Shirley was a kind and caring soul who could surprise us at the most unexpected moments with her razor-sharp sense of humour. She was endlessly patient and accepted the many challenges that confronted her with a quiet sense of grace and dignity. She understood that people don’t always need a brilliant mind that speaks, but rather, a gentle heart that listens. She was an extremely talented musician and considered singing in choirs and playing the organ at her church to be among the greatest pleasures of her life. Up until her very last days, she spoke fondly of her community at Erindale United Church, with whom she shared her most cherished and fulfilling years. When she had forgotten almost all else, she also remembered trips to Bermuda with Bernie, and their life-long friends, Pat and Bud George. She described trips to Disney World with Pat as particularly special memories and often dreamed of returning again. She was a life-long lover of dogs, especially schnauzers, and there was no creature that provided her with more joy. We hope that she is sitting with an armful of them now, sneaking them the treats she knows they shouldn’t be having.

A private family memorial service for Shirley will be conducted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Oakville Humane Society or to an animal shelter of your choice.

We would like to extend a special note of thanks to the staff on the Birch unit at Post Inn Village for their exceptional care of Shirley over the past year. Your consistency, compassion and respect for those in your charge impact the lives of many. Thank you for being there in the many moments we could not – we know there were more of them than we will ever know.

Our sincere condolences to Mary and Tom and their families. Mrs. Saull could always make me laugh and her love of animals made us kindred spirits. I will remember her with fondness always. Godspeed Mrs. Saull

Thanks to you both for your kindness over the years. Pity that you couldn't make Mum's funeral, but at least you can reunite with her in heaven. Rest in peace!
