We fondly remember Shirley from the days when our boys were growing up together.
I worked with Shirley from the time I started teaching at Humber (1975) until the year she retired. She was one of the original instructors in the nursing program there. She was an absolutely lovely person and a wonderful teacher always advocating for what was best for the students. She would always come to the retirees’ luncheon that I hosted here every summer until COVID. She so adored her husband and family. I am very sorry to hear about her passing. Love and prayers to her family.🙏❤️
Dear Cormier Family,
Shirley was my favourite instructor at Humber College 40 years ago. She is remembered very fondly by my former classmates (most retired now) who were thankful to have had her guidance. She raised a superb bunch of nurses and her influence has been impactful for the betterment of many lives in our health care system.
My thoughts are with the family and with my dear friend Jean-Paul at this time.
To the family: I have fond memories of hanging out with JP in Etobicoke and what a wonderful and friendly mom she was. Always smiling and welcoming.
To Jean-Paul: Even when we see these things coming for a while, the loss of a parent is a big blow and it feels like a 'pillar' of ourselves is lost. Please know that you have many great friends who will always be there to support you.
Dear Nicole and Jean -Paul, the Cormier family and Pellerin family.
It was great sadness that I read about your Mom's death. I was a young fellow from New Brunswick who attended Humber College in the Registered Nursing program. I had the wonderful privilege of having Shirley as an instructor, and wonderful mentor in seeing me become a Registered Nurse. My Mother grew up on Antigonish, Nova Scotia and attended St. F.X University as did Shirley. I was so grateful for Shirley's kindness. Over the many years when I would be flying back to the Maritimes from Vancouver to visit with my parents and siblings, I would always call and chat with Shirley when I would be changing to my connection in Toronto. Shirley was a lovely person and someone that I will also cherish with her devotion to her students in the Nursing profession. My condolences to all you with Shirley's passing.
Chris Sins, Registered Nurse.
