Peacefully, on Friday, October 16, 2020 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Peter for 49 years. Loving mother of Jason Ducharme (Laura), Roxane Graham (late Russell), John Kaldas (Donata) and Genevieve Steidman (Jason). Adored granny to 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A talented artist and music lover, she cherished her and Peter’s summer home on Cape Breton island and time spent there with family. As a couple they were inseparable, living life with a sense of joy and adventure. Their shared passion for Canadian history made her an impressive self-taught scholar. Shirley’s generosity, humour, and fierce love for her family will live on in those who knew her. A private family service has been held.
