In Celebration of

Shirley Anderson Webb

November 22, 1931 -  March 5, 2024

It is with gratitude for a life well-lived that we share the loss of our beloved mother, Shirley Anderson Webb, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, following a brief illness. She was 92 years old.

Shirley is mourned by her children and their spouses: Linda (Doug), David (Anne) and Steve (Helyn). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren and their partners: Gordon (Renée), Allison (Andrew), Alexandra (Andy), and Taylor (Taylor). Also missing their Gigi are great-granddaughters Ava, Éva, Zoé and Mia.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Russell and her sister, Myra, Myra’s husband Richard and Russell’s brother Bill. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Margaret, her nieces and nephews: Cathy (Al), Peter (Shari), Tony (Liz) and Fiona (Derek) and her great niece and nephews as well as the Alcock and Aikenhead families. Shirley shared a special bond with Athena and the entire Ioannides family who will miss her at family celebrations, as will her steadfast friend, Anne O’Neill. Shirley leaves behind her many friends at Fairways, her home for over 40 years, and her church family at Applewood United Church.

Born to Peter and Margaret (Rita) McInnes in Winnipeg on November 22nd, 1931, Shirley grew up in Glasgow, Scotland and returned to Canada upon her marriage to Russ. An astute businesswoman, Shirley was admired for her strength, remarkable faith, positive attitude, and her impeccable style. She was known for her ever-present smile and being the life and soul of any party. After retiring from a successful career in the railway industry, she continued to provide leadership and foster community through her involvement within Fairways and St. Luke’s/Applewood United Church.

Shirley's family are grateful for the care and attention afforded to her by Dr. Anderson and the nursing staff at the Milton District Hospital Complex Transitional Care Unit.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Sunday, March 24th, 2024 from 3 - 7 p.m.

The family will be having a private funeral.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Milton District Hospital Foundation.

Shirley, you were always such a positive and graceful lady. Always encouraged me throughout the years.
Rest peacefully, and find a great cloud for you and Russ to watch over your family, together.
God bless.

I’ll miss Linda’s regular posts involving her wonderful, stylish, vibrant mother. She will be missed even by those of us who never met her, but feel that we knew her.

Shirley….may your memory be a blessing.
