In Celebration of

Sharon May Dearie (nee Crocker)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sharon Dearie (nee Crocker) at Credit Valley Hospital on October 28, 2021 following a short illness.

Sharon will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones. Much loved wife of late Alan, adored mother of Laurie (Stuart) Dearie-Bruce and Krista (Jack) Merkley. Beloved Nana of Liam and Harrison and cherished by Parker. Treasured sister of Patricia (Gary) and aunt of Shannon. Dearly loved sister-in-law of Tom, Frank and Sherry and aunt of Erin, Alexis and Frank Jr. and their families.

Sharon was born to Vera and Bill Crocker in Mt. Dennis (Toronto) in 1944 and grew up in the tight-knit community, surrounded by extended family and many who became life-long friends. A graduate of Ryerson Fashion in the 60’s, Sharon managed the women’s fashion department of the Husdson's Bay Company in several locations in the years before marrying and turning her full attention to raising a family in Mississauga. A devoted mother, Sharon was ever supportive of her daughters in all their pursuits. In Mississauga, Sharon found friendship and community at Erindale United Church, as a parishioner, member of the United Church Women’s group, on committees and as the church secretary for many years until her retirement in 2009. Sharon held dear the many friends she made through all her involvements including but not limited to the Birthday Group, Book Club, her group trips abroad and the Biddies Club.

Sharon is remembered fondly by many for her warm and genuine smile, decisive fashion sense, resolute idealism, thoughtful ways, loyal and supportive nature, deeply loving heart, wise and measured advice, patient listening ear, sparkling clear blue eyes and joyous and exuberant laugh.

The family would also like to acknowledge and thank the many caregivers and dear friends who helped Sharon maintain her strength and independence over the past several years. You held a special place in her heart.

In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be placed in the Memorial Garden at Erindale United Church.

If desired, donations in Sharon’s memory can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke or PKD Foundation of Canada.
