In Celebration of

Sanja Vukosavljevic

July 29, 1988 -  March 24, 2022

A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and friend passed away suddenly on March 24th, 2022, in Los Angeles, California. Sanja was born on July 29th, 1988, in Pula, Croatia, and lived her early childhood in Belgrade, Serbia before moving to Toronto, Canada in 1993. Sanja is survived by her parents Duško and Zorica, sister Duša (Ryan), niece Nikolina and grandmother baka Cveta.

Sanja lived a vibrant 33 years of life that truly embodied the virtues of love, passion and light. The pinnacle of Sanja’s everlasting happiness emerged when all three of these traversed and she worked persistently to ensure this. Sanja’s love for family and friends is eternal as she carried this love through life as her strength for independence and driving force for success. Her passion and love for ingenuity and educating led her to create The Math & Memory Organization where she reached over 1,200 children in 12 elementary schools since 2017. Sanja strived to bring new light to those who needed a voice and poise. As the first female President of the University of Toronto’s Hart House Chess Club in over 118 years of history, Sanja successfully increased female membership by over 50% within one year of leadership and was recognized as a top 25 UofT trailblazer to evoke significant change. Wherever love, passion or light was needed, Sanja was able to quickly build upon these pillars with conviction and determination.

Visitation and service will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto Ontario, M6S 1P4), visitation from 12 noon - 3 p.m., Service at 3:00 pm on April 2, 2022.

Uvek u srcu, uvek u mislima, volimo te Sanja.

We send our deep condolences to such a loving family. Sanja was truly inspirational in the ways that she supported her students and she was the reason our children loved chess and math so much! She planted the seeds in her students that they could do anything they wanted and she believed in each of them so much! This is a tremendous loss. Sanja will live forever in our memories of her! We send our love to the loving Vukosavljevic family. We are so sorry to hear this news.
