Sal, Rhea and families,

We are so terribly saddened by the news!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. We have so many great memories of living beside your parents. Sammy was like a father to us - checking in on us, sharing celebrations with our kids, and lots of laughs. He will be fondly remembered! May all your wonderful memories help ease your days ahead.

I have known Sam for a number of years through his involvement with Softball and his umpiring. He was an excellent umpire and a true gentleman. He was always at the P.W.S.A. Annual Meetings, usually helping out in the Hospitality Room and frequently one of the last people I saw before leaving for home. His personality and his great smile will not be easily forgotten. My sincere sympathy to his family.

The last inning has been played. Thinking of you Sal.
Sorry we won’t be there to say goodbye.
Rest In Peace Sammy

When my wife and I were married in 1984 we lived in Toronto and first met "Sammy" He was a true role model and mentor and I had a lot to learn as an inexperienced umpire. I hope some of the enthusiasm I have today as an umpire is a direct result of umpiring with Sammy who as we all know showed his love and passion for the sport every time he took to the diamond. Sammy was a true gentleman and was always kind and respectful to all. Wishing his family strength and comfort at this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace
