In Celebration of

Ruth Dobson

September 16, 1928 -  October 20, 2023

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure; we pause to reflect on our most valuable treasure, our family matriarch, our Gramie.

On Saturday, October 21, 2023 (Gramie), Ruth Elizabeth Dobson (nee Colpitts) peacefully passed away with family by her side at the Milton District Hospital.

Ruth, born September 16, 1928, was born and raised on the family farm in Pleasant Vale, Albert County, New Brunswick. She was married and moved to Ontario, where she spent most of her adult life working for Canadian Admiral Appliances. She lived in Lakeview, Long Branch and finally settled in Port Credit, Ontario, where she raised her daughter Wanda and, eventually, grandson Louie. In 1989, Ruth and Laurie retired to Petitcodiac, New Brunswick. After her husband's passing, Ruth returned to Ontario to be closer to her family and friends and enjoyed many family celebrations and holidays with her loved ones. Her last few years were spent at Allendale Long Term Care Facility in Milton, Ontario, where she was loved by the staff and residents and was known for her quick wit, sense of humour and loving disposition. She was a loving and cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and loyal friend. She touched many lives with her generosity and compassion. Ruth passed away at the age of 95, had a whole life and was loved by many. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her sister Elenor, her daughter Wanda, grandchildren Louie, Tammy, Micki (Paul), Misty (Brad), Tamara (Randy) and her great-grandchildren Madelin, Macy, Miller, Alexus, Logan, Irelynn, Ethan, James and was preceded by her husband Lawerence and her great-grandson Alex; her extended family and friends will lovingly remember her.

The family appreciates all of your prayers, warm thoughts, and kind gestures during this time of loss.

Instead of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Port Credit Compass food bank or a charity of your choice. https://thecompass.ca/donate-now/

Nan, What do I have to say, well I meet you at 7, I believe, you were always welcoming and accepting of me of me. I loved going to eat lunch at your house from school, I loved all our family gatherings, but the thing that I will always remember about you is how family was everything, I will also never forget how much of a hard ass you were. You were a strong stern women who was never afraid telling us like it is, you were also never afraid to give us a hug or big smile, or my favorite a slap on the ass with the big smile and a smart remark. I am forever grateful of the lessons I learned from you and Gramps. I was blessed to have had you in my life. I do not need to tell you why I am not at your service, I am sure you are well informed from up there and watching out for us right now. You will be forever loved and never forgotten.. Oh and James says Thanks for the whole pie Nan :) xoxoxox
