Peacefully, surrounded by close family, Roy passed away at Toronto General Hospital
on the evening of Thursday, July 4, 2024, following major cardiac surgery, just a few
days short of his 60th birthday. Roy is survived by Alice, his wife of 21 years, and their
sons, Ethan and Andrew. Predeceased by his parents Stephen and Edith, Roy leaves
behind his loving brother Peter (Tanya).
Roy was born in Bishop Aukland, UK and moved to Montreal at the age of four. The
family relocated to Waterloo a number of years later where Roy attended Empire
Public School, KCI and finished his final year of high school at Trinity College School.
Roy attained his degree at Waterloo University and then trained as a Chartered
Accountant. Following this he moved to Bermuda where he lived for 13 years,
enjoying the island life while working in the insurance industry, before moving back
to Canada. It was in Bermuda that Roy met his wife, Alice, and his elder son, Ethan,
was born.
Roy was a good man who will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know
him as a loving, supportive and kind husband, a doting father who was so proud of
his sons, and a loyal and dependable friend. His kindness, gentle humour and joy of
life will be hugely missed by all who knew him.
