It is with great sadness that the Mladenovic family announces the passing of Radoje (Roy) Mladenovic on April 24, 2025 at the age of 94. Roy was a beloved husband and father. He is survived by his daughter Radmila and wife Dragica. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Milan Mladenovic and Mladenka Kitanovic, and sister Boska Janjevic.

Roy was born in a small village outside of Niš, Serbia on June 14, 1930. In 1957 he made the decision to take the long voyage across the Atlantic immigrating to Canada in the hopes of creating a better life. He arrived in Bremerhaven, Halifax, N.S. on Jan 14, 1957 via the ‘Seven Seas’ Europe-Canada Line (from Austria), and became a Canadian citizen on Mar 19, 1962. Roy built a successful candle manufacturing business. His candles were featured on the Canadian Christmas postage stamps in 1972 and in the Canadian commercials for Phantom of the Opera in 1992. Roy loved to read, work in his shop and had a passion for music, especially his love for playing Serbian music on his accordion. Roy was a proud Orthodox Serbian and was an active member of the Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church of St. Archangel Michael from the church’s inception in 1964.

Roy lived a long and fulfilling life, his legacy lives on in the significant impact he had on all who knew and loved him. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of 2L Medicine at St. Joseph’s Health Centre for their caring support. He will be dearly missed and always remembered.

Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter, Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. West, Toronto on Sunday May 4, 2025 from 5pm-8pm.

A Funeral Service will take place on Monday May 5, 2025 at 11am at the Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church of St. Archangel Michael, 212 Delaware Ave. Toronto, followed by the burial at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Rd. North York. Friends and family are invited back to the Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church of St. Archangel Michael for lunch and refreshments.
