In Celebration of

Rose Mary Craig

April 21, 1958 -  January 4, 2023

It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt – Rose Mary (Stubits) Craig. Loving partner to Andrew; much beloved mother to James and Julia (Jeff); devoted sister to Helen (Simon), Oscar (Terry), Theresa (Kevin), Katherine and Carol (David); cherished aunt to Amanda (Eli), Mark (Alicia), Emma, Erin, Rachel and Matthew; treasured great-aunt to Petal. Pre-deceased by her adoring parents Oskar and Maria Stubits.

It's impossible to capture in words Rose Mary’s intelligence, wit and compassion; and the strength she demonstrated throughout her life, including through her courageous battle with cancer. Her love of family was infinite. Her mother’s love was unparalleled – she never missed an event, large or small. Julia and James always knew they were the very centre of her and Duncan’s world. She was in constant contact with her siblings and their spouses to ensure they knew she was there for them. Auntie Rosie to her nieces and nephews – she always let them know she was in their corner. It was not unusual for Rose Mary to drop by with a gift or a treat to brighten someone’s day.

Art, particularly books and paintings, were Rose Mary’s great passions. Gallery visits on trips, especially a Paris trip with Andrew, were mandatory. Rose Mary was a voracious reader, and was also the family writer, including capturing some of our family history. Her paintings are treasured by family and friends – she had a wonderful eye and a gentle hand.

Rose Mary valued academics and spoke with pride about the University of Toronto Master of Science in Sustainability Management (MScSM) program where she was Program Coordinator. She was devoted to the students, colleagues and many friends she had there.

Rose Mary’s legacy is immeasurable. Our sweet Rose Mary – you are not gone from us, but before us. God has you in His keeping, we have you in our hearts, forever.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Credit Valley Hospital Oncology, Emergency and ICU Departments for their exemplary care and compassion through the darkest of days.

Visitation at Turner-Porter Neweduk Chapel Sunday, January 15th 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral service at Turner-Porter Neweduk Chapel Monday, January 16th 11:00am followed by burial at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.

Rose Mary,

Words cannot express how much you will be missed by all of your family and friends. I always admired your strength, and passion for education. Thank you for raising my best friend to be one of the kindest, most loving and compassionate people I know. She Carries your strength with her during the most difficult time in her life, standing strong just as you would. We will miss your beautiful smile and yummy chocolate cakes. We shared a passion for baking and taste for delicious food. I know you’re watching down on Julia and James, so proud of the life they have build for themselves. Please continue to give them guidance and strength as their guardian angel. May you rest in peace.- Until we meet again.

Sending all our love and condolences to all of the Stubits family during this extremely difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
