In Celebration of

Ronald Simpson

May 13, 1940 -  October 18, 2025

Ron passed away peacefully, at Dorothy Ley Hospice, surrounded by his wife of 55 years and two children.

Ron was born in Woodstock, Ontario, in 1940, to Walker and Violet Simpson. He was raised in Burnaby, B.C.and studied Chemical Engineering at UBC. After graduation, he worked briefly in Hamilton, Ontario, before pursuing his MBA at the University of Western Ontario. His first and last job after graduation was with Domglas Inc. where he rose to become President. He and Pat built a happy and adventure filled life in Montreal and Toronto while raising their children.

Ron is predeceased by his sister Brenda, and his parents. He is survived by his brother, Wayne, his wife, Pat, his son Matthew (Sue), his daughter Erin (Aaron), and his grandchildren Chloe, Evan and Noah as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ron’s happiest days were spent with his family and his Labrador Retriever in and around the family vacation home in Warren, Vermont; lounging by pools and oceans on his extensive travels throughout the world with his family, and, later, alone with Pat; and reading the paper in his beautiful backyard garden. As a father and husband, Ron was a rock: steady, calm and confident, no matter the circumstance. He loved playing cards and using card-player lingo; dancing to live music with elbows up; driving fast on windy mountain roads; and watching baseball. He was a Jays fan from opening day in ’77 to his dying day. In his final years, he delighted in salty language, correcting people’s grammar, and reading the acronyms on people’s shirts.

A service will be held at St. George’s On The Hill Anglican Church 4600 Dundas St W, Etobicoke, on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1 p.m.

The service will be livestreamed - please use the LIVESTREAM button below to watch the service.

The family gratefully acknowledges the Etobicoke Senior’s Day Program on Horner Ave, where Ron spent many happy days saying outrageous things and singing off-key; and the Dorothy Ley Hospice for their exceptional care in the last week of Ron’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice.

A lovely tribute to Ron, Pat.

I well recall Ron (nicknamed 'Sam' ) when he came to Toronto on weekends and stayed with us at Quigley Manor', 75 Spadina Rd.
He was a fine guy, good natured and very capable, but never took himself too seriously.
Rest peacefully, amigo.

Melody Ansara (Childhood Friend of Erin)

We will remember Ron for always standing beside Pat — his quiet presence spoke of deep love and devotion. He often paced the driveway, a simple habit that brought him comfort and peace. Our heartfelt condolence to Pat and the Simpson family.

Richard Walker & for Pamela (Friends)

Entered November 12, 2025 from Burlington, Ont.

My earliest association with Ron was a working relationship between a glass company and a brewing company. That was when we secretly conspired to put an end to the old Canadian "stubby' beer bottle.
Years later Pamela and became came close friends with Pat and Ron weekending in the Muskokas and a holiday together in the Caribbean.

To Pat and the whole family I share your grief and send along my love and that that Pamela surly would have too.
