In Celebration of
Ronald Francois Landry
February 13, 1947 -
May 4, 2024
Peacefully, surrounded by family, our much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, Ron passed away on May 4, 2024 at the age of 77.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara; his children Gregory (Lisa) and Erin; his grandsons Evan and Nathan; his in-laws Curtis and Pat Evenson; Ken and Elaine Johnson; Robert and Arlene Hamblin; aunts; uncle; cousins; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Lillian Landry and his brothers Gilbert, Mark, and Rick (Karen); and by his parents in law Tom and Kathleen Hamblin.
Ron was hired by Canada Packers/Maple Leaf Foods before leaving university and spent his entire 39-year career with the organization. He began his career in Winnipeg as an edible oils chemist and transitioned into Quality Control. In 1978 he was promoted to Quality Assurance Manager at the Toronto Canada Packers Plant on St. Clair and later promoted to Manager and then Director of Process Technology in Manufacturing at the Corporate Level. He impacted many in his roles over the years.
In his well-deserved retirement, he had more time to pursue his interests of reading, hiking, golfing, curling, travelling, spending time with friends, volunteering and planning extensive trips. Buying a more upscale travel trailer, Ron and Barb travelled to many beautiful provincial and state parks throughout Canada and the United States. River cruises in Europe, Thailand, and Cambodia, and extended trips to Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Turkey and Greece were planned with meticulous detail. His biggest joy, though, was having the time to spend with his beloved grandsons, Evan and Nathan, going to the ROM for summer camps each summer and then two weeks of camping after that. Ron also treasured trips that he and Barb took individually with each grandson, spending several weeks on Vancouver Island with Evan, and in the Canadian Rockies with Nathan.
Ron epitomizes the following quote: “A father considers his wealth not in possessions, but in the happiness of his family.”
Ron will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
