In Celebration of

Roman Zazula

October 7, 1949 -  December 8, 2023

Passed away at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre on December 8, 2023, at the age of 74. Predeceased by his parents Anton and Lidia (née Lewicky). He will be forever missed by his cousins Ihor (Oksana) Komarnicky and Oksana (Michael) Micciola, and all his family and friends.

After graduation from the University of Toronto Roman worked as a computer specialist in the fields of banking and finance. Beyond work he was an outstanding chess player and a philatelist with an awesome stamp collection. But Roman had two overriding loves, scouting and music.

As a scoutmaster in Plast, Ukrainian Youth Association, Roman trained many young scouts and guides across Canada and the USA. His main specialties were mountaineering and sea scouting. He was a life-long member of the Plast Black Sea Scout Troop.

Roman was an avid music lover with a deep appreciation for sacred music and blessed many choral ensembles across the city with his rich baritone voice, most recently with the Toronto Ukrainian Male Chamber Choir. His memory will sing on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Sunday, December 17th from 6-8:30 p.m. with Panachyda taking place at 7 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Demetrius the Great Martyr Parish, 135 LaRose Avenue, on Monday, December 18th at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date as a private family affair.

For those who wish, donations may be made to Plast Toronto at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/49845?v2=true.
