In Celebration of

Roderick Cameron Atkinson

March 4, 1962 -  October 12, 2025

We are devastated to announce the passing of Roderick Cameron Atkinson, 63, on Sunday, October 12, at Credit Valley Hospital, surrounded by the loving presence of his wife and children. After a short battle with aggressive cancer, Rod is reunited with his mother, Morag; his father, Geoffrey; his father-in-law, Carl, and his brother-in-law, David. He was the cherished husband of Lee Anne (nee Baskey) and devoted father of Caitlyn and Meighan; dear brother to Sheelagh and loving uncle to Cameron (Finn) and Alexandra (Anthony). His great nieces, Allie and Alena, held a special place in his heart. Rod’s presence touched many and he will be missed by extended family here and in Britain and a wide circle of friends and colleagues.

Rod’s lifelong career in the hotel industry was the fodder of many stories, the foundation of many friendships and the serendipitous set-up that led to his marriage and children. His three girls meant the world to him. A gracious host, Rod is fondly remembered for gathering family and friends for formal and informal occasions - holiday dinners, watching the Leafs, snacks around the Christmas village - if food is love, then Rod loved fully and completely.

Visitation at Turner and Porter, Peel Chapel on Monday October 20 from 4 - 8 p.m, a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, at 3 p.m. at Turner and Porter, Peel Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Terry Fox Foundation or the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund would be deeply appreciated.
