With heavy hearts, we announce that Robert passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2023 at Credit Valley Hospital, at the age of 61.

Loving son of Maria and the late Juraj (George) Rukavina. Much loved father of Michael and Marcus. He will be missed greatly by their mother, Angela Markusic. He was the treasured brother of Irene and husband John and cherished Uncle Bobby to his nephew and niece, Andre and Alexandra.

You could easily find Robert in any room by listening for laughter. He was quick-witted and enjoyed sharing his playful nature and good sense of humour with everyone. He maintained that spirit as he battled bladder cancer five years ago. It was a challenging recovery but it lead to a new perspective on work/life balance. Robert was an avid tennis player and was able to resume playing the game. He found much inner peace and calm by swimming laps almost daily while listening to music. He insisted on a scheduled “coffee time” with his mother every day. However, the greatest joy in his life came from his sons Michael and Marcus. He was very proud of the young men they had become and what they have accomplished thus far.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his friends and extended family.

Funeral Mass will be held at Croatian Martyrs Church, 4605 Mississauga Rd., Mississauga on Wednesday March 22nd, 2023 at 10 am.

Internment at Assumption Cemetery.
