In Celebration of

Robert Karpf

March 2, 1942 -  November 11, 2024

Robert Karpf of Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully on November 11th, 2024, at the age of 82, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at The Baycrest Shirley & Philip Granovsky Palliative Care Unit.

Born on March 2nd, 1942, in Zurich, Switzerland, son of the late Max Karpf and late Klara Karpf, Robert led a vibrant life full of adventure. He enjoyed hiking, skiing, traveling, and had so many exciting stories to tell.

At the age of 30, Robert married Helen (deceased) in 1972, and together they shared three beautiful children.

Robert is survived by his children: Corry (David), Jennifer (Matthew), and Matthew (Julia); his sister Vreni (John) and brother Max (Heidy); and grandchildren Evangeline, Alexander, and Maia. He is also fondly remembered by his niece Sabina (Andre), and nephews Tobias (Nadine. Children Chiara, Giulia, Elina) and Ralph (Anna).

While Robert’s younger years were marked by bold ventures and explorations, it was in his golden years as “Pop” that he truly flourished, finding immense joy in his role as a grandfather.

A hardworking and honest man, Robert was always there for his family, offering quiet strength and steady support. Robert worked as a Typesetter for Bowne for over 35 years. Known as “Robbie” to his friends and colleagues, he was a valued employee with a wealth of knowledge and experience he was readily willing to share.

Though he was sometimes shy, he had a warm, playful sense of humour that brought joy to everyone around him.

His legacy of love and kindness will forever leave an absence felt by everyone who loved him.

Robert will be deeply missed, and his memory will be cherished by his family and friends forever.

Rest in Peace Pop, we love you.

Family and friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 2-3pm followed by a Chapel Service at 3pm.

For those who may wish, donations can be made to the Shirley & Philip Granovsky Palliative Care Unit at Baycrest Hospital.

A sad and heavy loss for Vreni, my thoughts are with her as I have gone through a similar situation as this. Robert was an intelligent, and graceful person. The few times that I met him, he was always a gentleman and in good spirits.
