In Celebration of

Robert Frank Nancarrow

November 21, 1928 -  January 13, 2025

After a long and happy life, Robert (Bob) departed this earth on Monday, January 13, 2025. Born November 21, 1928 in Toronto, he attended Humberside Collegiate before starting his business career at Brunswick in 1947. Robert married Anna Walker in 1955, and enjoyed 55 years with her and their children Alison (Scott Cooper), and Jim (Mena Miele). Robert and Anna loved spending time with their 4 grandchildren, Nicole (Al Van Zeben), Lindsay (Courtney Weidelich), Elizabeth (John Gautreau), and Robert (Jordan Smith). After Anna’s passing in 2010, Robert attended his grandchildren’s weddings, welcomed 5 great-grandchildren (Dylan, Ryan, Nathan, Kayleigh, and Declan), and was looking forward to a 6th great-grandson this year. He also enjoyed time spent with his sister and brother-in-law , nieces and nephews and their families.

In 1966, Robert started Gemini Furniture with partner Graham McFarlane. With the flexibility of being his own boss, he divided his time between work, the hundreds of tasks at Honey Harbour, and flying at York Soaring. His motto for all these activities: Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Robert loved to travel, first with Anna, and later solo or group trips. A mission trip to Malawi in 2011 was a particular highlight. He had a special interest in education, and established a bursary fund at Victoria University in Anna’s name.

A memorial service for Robert will be held at Turner & Porter “Neweduk Chapel”, 1981 Dundas St. W., on Tuesday, January 21 at 3:00, with visiting 1 hour prior to the service, and light food afterward.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to Georgian Bay Forever (https://www.georgianbayforever.org) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation (https://www.heartandstroke.ca)

We’re so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Bob.

His broad knowledge, interest in virtually everything, infectious laugh and love of his cottage made conversations with him fascinating.

Alison, Scott, Jim and Mena, you’re in our thoughts.

Bob and Anna were our neighbours on Sealcove Drive in Etobicoke . Anna’s homemade fudge was always a treat and made only for a few select neighborhood kids at Halloween ( we adored it ) Bob was a kind and generous neighbour to my parents Ruth and Bill Einarson and we as a family will always remember and cherish the memories. Our heartfelt condolences to Alison and Jim and family . He was a wonderful man and friend
