In Celebration of

Robert Edwin "Bob" Alexander

October 27, 1947 -  November 21, 2024

With tears in our eyes, we announce the death of Bob Alexander, aged 77, on November 21st 2024. Bob was the beloved husband of Linda Alexander (née Gregory) for 54 years, loving father to Todd Alexander (Klaudia Dmitrienko) and Laura Alexander (Cameron Dryburgh), and cherished Grandpa (or sometimes Grumpa) to Anya, Marion, Will and Jack.

A loving husband and father, Bob’s commitment to his family permeated his life. Though he wasn’t known for outward displays of emotion, those close to him were aware of his huge heart. Whether coaching, cheering on his kids and grandkids at sporting events, or horsing around in the pool or on the beach, Bob found great joy in the family he and Linda shared.

Bob loved sports, the outdoors, and his dogs -Cleo, Rosebud, Mattie and his grand dogs Sasha and Kodi. An avid golfer, he spent his post-retirement years pursuing this game of life in Florida and back home. He also enjoyed downhill skiing, a sport that enabled him to combine time with family while outdoors in the mountains.

His memory will be cherished by his family, friends and those whose lives he touched. Bob fought a four-year battle with lung cancer, and although he eventually succumbed to the disease, we are forever grateful for that extra time we had with him -time filled with rounds of golf, long dinners, lots of laughs, and a few extra beers.

A funeral service to honour Bob’s life will be held at St. Bride’s Anglican Church, 1516 Clarkson Rd. North, Mississauga, on Tuesday, November 26th, at 11 am, followed by a reception at the church. His remains will be interned at Springcreek Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any donations be made to the Cancer Research Society, in his memory.

We were fortunate enough to spend many good times with Bob and Linda. Each night at Sunset on Marco, enjoying... well... just a few beers and lively conversation. Bob's sense of humor made us laugh so hard and still does as we remember some of his classic stories and jokes. Gary was fortunate enough to accumulate free Titliest golf balls as Bob scouted out thousands of lost balls (no exaggeration) at our Eagle Lakes Country Club, sometimes capturing them from the mouths of gators and snakes. The hot tub at the Sandcastle (while we violated the beverage rules) will not be the same without him. We will miss Bob a lot.

Linda - Steve and I were devastated to hear this news. Steve enjoyed golf with Bob and he was always one to laugh and joke while out there. We sincerely wish the best for you and your family. Please take care.

Linda, Laura, Todd and family. What a loss! Bob was more than a friend, he was a person you looked up to. That smile and sense of humour was contagious. We know how much he loved golf! We had on occasions found it necessary to change our schedule to fit his tee off time.
Above all, he loved family.
He is now with the angels and in peace.
God bless.

Bobert,
Your memory will shine in our hearts forever and a day.
Those subtle zingers and the way you laughed at your own jokes.
Daily 5pm cocktails on the dock or deck where we solved world problems, talked politics, shared stories of our beloved families or just sat savouring all that was good
Your penchant for a good prime rib roast.
German beer
Middle of the night snacks
Brownie giggles
Building a raft for the kiddos, including us grown up ones
Visiting with you and Linda on Marco Island
And of course...your golf. Brad and I are grateful to have squeezed in a round with you and Linda on Rice Lake at the tail end of summer 2024.
Everytime we spot an eagle, it will remind us of the rare soul that was you. May your family and all who loved you find solace in memories of their own.
